What helps most

Error reports of any size: a wrong number or unit, a study cited for something it does not say, a stimulus parameter that does not match its figure, or a spectrum check that does not match the sound it describes. Name the page and quote the statement. A link to a primary source helps most.

Leads on openly licensed photographs or public-domain plates and paintings that could illustrate an entry. Send the file page and the license or public-domain basis shown there.

Primary sources for a statement that an entry marks as unsourced, or as read only in abstract.

Questions about reusing a figure, data file or sound. The licenses and credit lines are on Stimuli and sounds for reuse.

Corrections that result are published at the foot of the entry and on Errors and fixes.

What this address cannot help with

Diagnosis, treatment or hearing-protection advice about hearing or eyesight. Questions about your own hearing or sight belong with a qualified clinician.

Advice on choosing instruments or audio equipment, or comparisons of how they sound.

Instructions for handling helium or toxic pigments.

Self-tests that involve bright light or loud sound.

How messages are used

Messages and the addresses they come from are used only to handle what was written. The site's Cookies and counting page covers everything else it measures or stores.
